چکیده

This paper is concerned with the evaluation of wall or boundary friction, adhesion and wear in bins and chutes of bulk solid handling plant. The relevant parameters influencing wall friction, such as surface roughness and particle size, are described and the manner in which friction, adhesion and cohesion influence performance of bins and chutes is discussed. Particular attention is focussed on the subject of abrasive wear. The concept of Relative Wear Number is introduced and the application of this parameter to indicate zones of wear in hoppers and chutes is outlined. The development of a linear type laboratory wear test apparatus is described and some

The Effect to Epsilon Phase on the Friction and Wear of Nitrided Die Steels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In this paper, the wear resistance and antifriction of epsilon phase layer and diffusion layer of gas nitrided D2 steel and M2 steel have been studied. The changes m wear mechanism of epsilon phase under the load from 20N to 200N are analysed. When the load is lighter than 100N, it is mainly oxidizing wear on friction surface. The adhesion, peeling off and abrasive wear appear on friction surfa...

Delamination Wear Mechanism in Gray Cast Irons

An investigation of the friction and sliding wear of gray cast iron against chromium plated cast irons was carried out on a newly constructed reciprocating friction and wear tester. The tests were the first to be done on the test rig under dry conditions and at the speed of 170 cm/min, and variable loads of 20-260 N for a duration of 15 min. to 3 hours. The gray cast iron surfaces worn by a pro...

Fabrication of the Cu-Zn multilayer and Cu-Zn alloy by accumulative roll bonding (ARB) with an emphasis on the wear behavior

Accumulative roll bonding (ARB) was used to fabricate the Cu-Zn multilayer and Cu-Zn solid solution. A lamellar structure with the hardness of about 130 VHN was formed after eight ARB cycles. Following to the suitable heat treatment, a solid solution with a uniform microstructure and hardness of about 57 VHN was produced. The dominant wear mechanism in the ARB processed multilayer was found to ...

A Study of the Wear Behavior of a Rail Material

The rail track is one of the most important elements of a railway system. During the passage of trains, the rails are subjected to contact load that comes from the wheels of the train.  The railway track often fails in service due to wear caused by contact fatigue and other wear damage mechanisms that could also limit the life span of the railway infrastructure and railway vehicle. The aim of t...

Effect of spherical Au nanoparticles on nanofriction and wear reduction in dry and liquid environments

Nano-object additives are used in tribological applications as well as in various applications in liquids requiring controlled manipulation and targeting. On the macroscale, nanoparticles in solids and liquids have been shown to reduce friction and wear. On the nanoscale, atomic force microscopy (AFM) studies have been performed in single- and multiple-nanoparticle contact, in dry environments,...
